Meet Paula!

Paula's FamilyPaula Mullis moved to Joppa, Maryland in January 1974, and has been active in the community ever since. She and her husband Fred have raised both their children here in Harford County. Both Michael and Heather attended Joppatowne Elementary, Magnolia Middle School and graduated Joppatowne High school. Heather also attended Deerfield Elementary in Edgewood in their special education program. She was an active member of the PTA at Joppatowne Elementary School and continued her involvement through both her children’s High School years.

As a member of the local Flotilla of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, Paula taught boating safety classes at the Joppatowne Library and then Trojan Harbor Marina in Edgewood, and performed numerous boating safety checks and emergency response calls along the Gunpowder and Bush Rivers. Paula has also worked most recently with the local Habitat for Humanity and with programs at Bethesda Naval Hospital assisting troops who had come back from Iraq.

With a degree in Business. Paula has worked as a Mid-level Executive in the Baltimore Area for the last 15 years and is the President/Director of Marketing for her own company, Superior Drug Testing, LLC since its inception. She also manages APPS of Baltimore, where she employs a staff of 35 examiners and 6 office members. Paula is also a member of the Harford County's Route 40 Business Association.

As a lifelong Republican, Paula's public involvement in the Harford County Republican Party has spanned beyond the last decade. Paula is currently a member of the Edgewood Community Council, a member and former Program Chair of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, and a member of the Harford County Republican Club. As part of the Edgewood Community Council, Paula is working on the Ministerial Alliance Committee to bring the local churches together to strengthen their ties with the community and work on faith-based programs and support groups.

Paula has also worked and volunteered with the Harford County portions of campaigns for Governor Ehrlich, Lt. Governor Michael Steele, Ellen Sauerbrey, and President Bush. She was also the County Coordinator for the E.J. Pipkin Senatorial campaign and made it possible for him to hold his first "Town Hall Meeting" in Joppatowne.

But it is as the current President and 8 year member of the Harford County Republican Women's organization that Paula has been able to demonstrate her powerful leadership skills. The Harford County Republican Women is a fast growing proactive group dedicated to community service and advancing the Republican philosophies in all areas. Under Paula's leadership as the HCRW's President, the organization has seen record growth in membership and has cultivated professional relationships with officials around the state, including Governor Ehrlich and Lt. Governor/Senate Candidate Michael Steele. And under Paula's leadership, Harford County was chosen for the first time to be the host for the Maryland Federation of Republican Women's Annual Spring Board Meeting which brought together not only Republican Women from across the entire state to Harford County, but played host to Katja Bullock, Special Assistant to President Bush. The HCRW's Annual Holiday Gala's have also played host to Katja Bullock, as well as Governor Ehrlich and First Lady Kendel Ehrlich.

Paula, Fred, and their Grandson JacobPaula has seen the community grow and the problems that become associated with that growth. She has talked with many of her neighbors in the area and heard their concerns about education, crime, jobs and about the blight in areas of the community that need to be addressed and cleaned up. She has listened to the parents, grand-parents, and children who are afraid to take advantage of the beautiful areas and playgrounds of Joppa/Edgewood because of the growing drug and gang problems in their community. She has taken the opportunity through her 32 years in the Joppa/Edgewood community, and her work throughout the county to help make Harford County a better place. And now she wants to take that right to the Harford County Council. With your help Paula can, and will, continue to help shape and change District A for the better.
