Amongst the other candidates running for office, Paula was the only candidate from District A who took the time to come to talk to the people. About Unity in the Community:
(September 1st, 2006) - Twelve days before the Harford County Election Primaries, Harford County's main newspaper The Aegis endorsed Paula Mullis, a Republican Candidate for the Harford County Council. Citing her passion, they agree that Paula "gives voice to a common concern expressed in Joppatowne and Edgewood that the declining reputations of those communities, and their rampant crime problems, need to be addressed." In going door-to-door throughout communities in Edgewood, the concerned citizens seem to agree. Paula's support in the community continues to grow on both the Republican and Democrat side. Even many who were not able to vote on the Republican side of the Primary still asked for a Paula Mullis yard sign and pledged to support her in the General Election.
Again citing Paula's passion for wanting to fixing the crime problems in Edgewood, The Aegis endorsement simply says: Paula Mullis is a Republican candidate for the Harford County Council - District A. Harford County's Primary Elections will be held on September 12th, 2006. The Aegis is published by Homestead Publishing, and has been publishing Harford County's history from its Bel Air, Maryland headquarters since 1856.

"This candidacy isn't about me," said Paula. "This is about YOU, the people in our community. And I promise you, I will not turn my back on you. I will hold myself accountable for my results, just as I expect to hold other accountable for theirs." When asked about specifics pertaining to crime, Paula reiterated her desire to work with the Harford County Sheriff's Department by using the County Council to provide them with every resource they need. She also went into more specifics about setting up a form of Auxillary Police; which would be able to respond to non-critical or non-dangerous situations, keeping Deputies and State Police freed up and on the streets. On the subject of education, Paula repeated her promise to hold immediate meetings with the Harford County Board of Education and school administrators to figure out what is wrong in the failing Edgewood schools and work on the solution using the power of the County Council. Paula also repeated her strong stance on getting faith-based programs together with the local churches, and touted her work on the Edgewood Community Council's Ministerial Alliance.
